Move on.....

So Wonka opened last Friday to huge compliments and applause!  Three performances of near sell outs! That was a wonderful feeling to see my show take off like that. The thing is.... it's got miles to go before they really get 'in the groove' so imagine how good it's going to get?!

Seriously, I have got the best team on my staff. There may have been some minor issues but I really gather the best possible people to make it happen. It's not really about me.... it's about them.

I'm all about being a team player in the long run!


So now the show has 3 more weeks and I hope it continues to sell out so the theatre can make oodles of money and keep growing and improving. We'll see what happens.....

Now it's time to move on to researching and prepping the NEXT show! This has been quite a season for me. I started last summer with teaching theatre camp and doubling as vocal director for Hairspray, then directing Wonka and now I'm going into a play over at the Jewel Box called "Catfish Moon"! Crazy stuff.... but it's what I love doing.

Now I am looking into life in the south, what it's like for some good ol' boys growing up and dealing with lots of emotional things, especially loyalty. I'm so excited to really delve into some serious acting! Wonka was definitely fun but when you have 37+ actors on a stage there's only so much time to work on character and other acting issues. Now I'm cutting down to 4 adult actors. Can you imagine that? I can hardly wait!

Happy Anniversary (NOT)

We are a weird sort....we humans. We celebrate birthdays, holidays (religious and Hallmark), graduations, retirements, weddings, anniversaries. The obvious thing is that it's beginnings and endings. We celebrate the beginning of life. We celebrate the end of school, the end of a career.  We certainly don't 'celebrate' death..... well, actually I guess a wake could be considered a celebration of one's passing. Some people do choose to celebrate the end of a marriage too. ;-) Yet we remember those very important dates when something or someone ends. The date we lose someone really important or an institution like marriage. Actually.... the true date of my divorce of my first marriage (which I know was in October) escapes me because it was a long time ago. Not that it wasn't traumatic or unimportant because it was. It's just I've moved on (as has my ex) so that date doesn't hold a grip over me. The death of a loved one (related or not) is always t

Something's Coming

I am so tired...but not sleepy! I hate that but my brain is working a million miles an hour.... Just spent the evening trying to help a good friend and his team cast his production of 'West Side Story.' What amazingly talented people we have in good ol' Kitsap County. That doesn't surprise me in the slightest but everytime I sit through an audition I am blown away. You'd think all these people would be in LA or NYC trying to make it as actors but no....they do this as a hobby! Yowza....I can't wait to direct my next show......if the young talent is as good as this....I can't imagine what it'll be like when I get all those adults! Oh, what show is that, might you ask? I'm doing The Mystery of Edwin Drood which is a musical version of Charles Dickens' last and unfinished novel. Kind of a trip since the audience has to vote on who the killer is....remember that Dickens died before he was able to reveal who the bad guy (or girl) was!
