Next To Normal

Wow.... my last show ended and I expected peace and quiet. Nope. This last weekend was crazier than normal!  Ha!

So we took Mark's mom to the airport yesterday in what turned out to be one of the quickest and easiest transfers into the plane ever despite the fact that we were technically late. We always get a wheelchair and attendant for her now because she doesn't have the endurance to walk that far. The cool thing is that Alaska Airlines (my favorite) lets us get security passes to escort her to the gate so we can say goodbye and keep her company all the way onto the plane.

It's weird having my house back to myself but I am grateful to have some calm and peace. I think I will start tackling some major cleaning and moving of furniture and rooms tomorrow. It seems to be time to get the house in order for the holidays and to set up Mark's recording studio.

We celebrated our first Friday night without a show by staying home with Mark's mom, eating comfort food and watching 'Steel Magnolias' which is one of our favorite movies.  Saturday, I had my weigh in (officially another 2 lbs and 1.5 inches gone) and then we went to Katie & Eric Richardson's wedding and reception. What a cool shindig that was! Couldn't really eat anything that was there and Mark's mom wanted to take us out for a final dinner on her last night here so we got to go to The Outback (which I LOVE) and enjoy a great filet mignon. I love eating a steak because it seems to really help me lose weight over the next couple of days.... something about the heavier and slightly fatty content of protein seems to help kickstart us that are in a low carb/no sugar diet.

Sunday morning, we went off to the airport and then came straight home so I could madly cook Scottish foods for Dave & Ally Baine's Scotchtober fest (or as we lovingly call it, Scottish Prom) within a 3.5 hour window. I couldn't eat a single thing I made but I managed to cook and make Mark taste-test everything for quality control. I did really well and enjoyed myself at the party. I made myself a salmon fillet (Scottish style) and drank club soda and avoided all carbs and sweets. It was not difficult.... I just miss the freedom of eating anything I wanted. Of course, the choice was mine and I chose not to cheat and I am really happy with the results so far.

So it's nice to have a quiet morning to myself again. I got to enjoy a huge cup of coffee and read and write. I'm planning my days of home improvement projects and getting ready to start directing a new show at CSTOCK. I'm even thinking about going back to Old Navy and Macy's to go shopping again just to see if I can get into smaller clothes!

This past Thursday I was at Macy's wanting to look for new things even though I know I can't buy anything just yet...too expensive to buy clothes knowing that I may not be the size I am for much longer. What a weird concept, right? But the exciting thing was that I managed to get into several size 10's for the first time since 2001! When Mark and I started dating (October 2001) I was back to a size 12. For the life of me, I could not get back to a size 10 so I had accepted my fate of being a 12 forever.  I'm generally still in size 12 pants but I can tell it's starting to get too big. I have a pair of Old Navy size 10 bootcut jeans that I've been waiting to try on again just out of curiosity. I'll probably try them on and maybe even go to the store and see if the size 10 skinny jeans will fit.  Can it be that I may need to buy size 8's for my next goal???? I'll post that info later.

Well, while I was at Macy's I tried on lots of tops too. Alfani seems to be my favored brand these days and I found lots of their stuff on sale. I ended up buying a beautiful top in a Medium! This just blew me away... I haven't worn a medium anything in 13 years!  That just made my year!

So it's been a great week overall. I was downloading my weight loss info into a new app I put on my iPhone and I noticed something and it truly startled me. The app automatically figures out your BMI (again, something I don't hold a lot of stock in but it does give you some info about your body fat) and I noticed for the first time my body fat is normal or almost normal (what I like to call 'next to normal'!). My body fat is still reading overweight BUT I'm 1.6 percent away from normal. I would definitely call that 'next to normal', wouldn't you? My BMI is reading 'high normal' and it's pretty damn close to 'normal normal' that it's worth celebrating!

So I weighed myself this morning (again, I've learned to finally weigh myself sans clothing to get a true reading) and I'm THAT close to the 160's. I am .4 lbs away from being 169!  I cannot get over this fact. I never thought I'd be at this point now. It's been 10 weeks as of today that I started and what a huge loss I've had! I cannot get over the success that IP has brought me in such a short time.

What huge hurdles I've managed to get past! I'm really proud of myself today. I'm hoping that I'll be able to burn through the last 11-13 percent of body fat to achieve my goal in a quick, efficient manner. I'd like to be eating normally at Thanksgiving so I've got 6 weeks to try! If I don't make it, I'm not quite sure if I will plan to cheat or not. I'll have to have a discussion with my coach about it. I do think I'll make it by Christmas though and look forward to being able to eat whatever I want on my birthday! Woo-hoo!
